Assay of the teichoic acids (I) of 'polysaccharide' type in a preparation (A) from a Gram positive bacterial culture comprises treatment of the preparation with hydrofluoric acid at a temperature of less than or equal to 40 [deg]C to release the oligosaccharides specific for the teichoic acids present in the preparation, and assay of specific oligosaccharides obtained.
