The procedure for extracting proteins and oil from seeds such as lupin (Lupinus albus), peas, soya beans or lentils consists of crushing the whole seeds and separating them into heavy fractions comprising the kernels and lighter ones comprising shell debris and germ. The two fractions are ground, and proteins and oil are extracted from them with solvents. Prior to grinding the lighter fraction larger fragments are separated from it by means of a 4 mm sieve.
