The arrangement has fuel cells (10a, 10b) divided into two distinct pilings of elementary cells supplied with fuel e.g. hydrogen. The elementary cells are supplied with oxidant e.g. air, by an oxidant supply device. Each piling is arranged respectively in front and rear parts of a motor vehicle (22). The pilings have mass separated with equilibrium between the front and the rear parts of the vehicle.
