The sliding roof arrangement (1) for a motor vehicle has two longitudinal guide rails each having on one side a front element which is rigidly mounted in the closed position on the sliding roof above a movable panel (10), and on the other side has a rear element (25,26) movably mounted to move between an assembly position which enables the guiding of the lower section of the sliding roof into an aperture (101) in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the aperture, and an in-use position in which the rear element extends in a co-linear manner and continues in the extension of the corresponding front element. An independent claim is included for a motor vehicle (100) comprising the aforesaid sliding roof arrangement.
