The retractable vehicle roof comprises a movable roof element, which is coupled on both sides of a vehicle longitudinal central plane with a drive-sliding carriage (20), which is connected with a drive cable. The movable roof element is adjustably guided in a guide rail (18) in vehicle longitudinal direction, which has a guiding channel (24,26) for a sliding element (28,30) of the drive-sliding carriage. The drive cable is guided in the guiding channel (24,26), which is formed with a under cut (27) corresponding to longitudinal central plane of the drive-sliding carriage.
