A projectile comprises a perforator (1) of a hard, dense metal fitted with a piston (5) of a low-density material that is resistant to puncturing to impart rotational speed and axial velocity. The piston has a conical front surface with radial gas guide grooves, and the projectile has a number of guide shoes (3) with a seal ring (2) at the back to limit the passage of gases.
