The machine includes a flowrate controller (1) which by an increased or decreased angle of inclination, passes a greater or lesser flow of chestnuts. The roller (2) is covered by a layer of point-textured steel. This draws the chestnuts in, and assists shelling. The roller has a counter-component formed by two arcs of a semicircle (5) placed on two sides of the roller. The roller turns between the arcs. These are equipped with three rows of components (3) acting like piano keys. These components are fitted with steel layers sharpened as sawteeth (10). They (3) pivot on an axis (22) and are held under pressure by springs (4). The springs allow the chestnuts to pass. At the same time, they avoid breakage of the kernels. The mechanical equipment is further detailed, salient features including a coupled system of controlled air classification to remove shell fragments from the shelled chestnut kernels.
