Preparation of alkylhalogenosilanes by reaction of an alkyl halide with a solid mass comprising silicon and a catalytic system consisting of a copper catalyst and promoter group comprising zinc and tin additives, and, optionally, another metal or metalloid compound. The catalyst(a) is in the form of an adduct comprising a copper halide and derivative of a phosphorus acid. The promoter additive(b1) is Zn, a Zn compound or mixture of the species ; the additive (b2) is Sn, a Sn compound or mixture of the species ; the (optional) additive (b3) is Cs, K, Rb, P or compounds of these or a mixture.
