A color filter array substrate comprises a black matrix (102) on a substrate, color filters (104) at an area separated by the black matrix, and a spacer at an area that overlaps the black matrix. The color filters include red (R), green (G), blue (B) and white (W) color filters. A height of the white color filter is different from a height of the red, green and blue color filters. An independent claim is also included for a fabricating method of a color filter array substrate.
