Pharmaceutical, dermatological and/or cosmetic compositions, useful for skin care, e.g. for firming skin and combating aging, containing hydrolyzed cork extract

The use of hydrolyzed cork extracts (I) is claimed as active agents (optionally in combination with other active agent(s)) in (or for the production of) pharmaceutical, dermatological and/or cosmetic compositions (A). An independent claim is also included for the (I)-containing pharmaceutical, dermatological and/or cosmetic compositions (A). ACTIVITY : Dermatological; Antiinflammatory; Antipruritic. In double-blind tests in human subjects (22-52 years old), application of a saponified cork extract (Ia) (obtained by saponification with aqueous potassium hydroxide followed by extraction with hexane) to the skin at 2 mg/cm 2in a gel containing (Ia) at 3 % reduced roughness of the skin (relative to placebo) by an average of 73.3 % after 1 hour and 78.6 % after 2 hours. MECHANISM OF ACTION : Skin cell metabolic function stimulant; extracellular matrix protein stimulant; tissue regeneration and cicatrization promoter.
