The device has a set of nozzles (1a-1n) placed remotely from each other, and projecting a vertical jet of coolant fluid, such that the vertical jets of the nozzles form a curtain uninterrupted by the fluid to form a heat radiation barrier between an object to be protected and fire. Each nozzle is integrated to a telescopic arm which is folded when the device is inactive and unfolded when the device is active.
