The procedure consists of lightly threading the inner surface of the cylindrical bore (4) and then raising the block with the bore on a support (3) so that it is aligned with a two-wire arc torch (7). The block is then moved towards the torch so that their axes of symmetry are in line, and the bore is coated with metal atomised by a gas as an electric arc passes between the two wires and projected onto the bore surface by a second gas passing through a 90-degree nozzle and diffusion cone. An independent claim is given for a device used to implement the outlined procedure.
