The machine has a horizontal stent support (22) to receive an upper ring of a stent (2). A retention unit (16) has a vise (50) placed under the stent support and adapted to laterally hold a jar (3) introduced through the stent. An actuating unit (17) vertically displaces the stent support with respect to the retention unit between nearby and far positions. An independent claim is also included for a process for placement of a stent on a jar.
