Benzo[b]azepine derivatives (IA) are new. Benzo[b]azepine derivatives of formula (IA) are new. R1halo, (halo)alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, acyl, aryl, arylalkyl, arylalkenyl, arylalkynyl, hydrocarbon ring, heterocycle, polymer chain, (CH2)mQ or CH(ORk)(ORl); Q : ORk, SRk, SORk, SO2Rk, SO2NRkRl, SO2Rk, nitro, cyano, PO(ORk)(ORl), SiRkRlRm, COORk, NCORk or NRkRl; Rk, Rl and Rmhydrogen, (halo)alkyl, acyl, aryl, alkenyl, arylalkenyl, alkynyl, arylalkynyl, aralkyl, alkaryl, hydrocarbon ring or heterocycle, or Rk and Rl together complete a heterocycle; m : 0 or integer; n : 0-4, and if 2 or more, each R1 is same or different or together form a hydrocarbon ring or heterocycle; R2-R7hydrogen or as defined for R1, or R4-R7 form, in pairs, one or more hydrocarbon ring(s) or heterocycle(s) but at least one of R4-R7 must be hydrogen; and Z1 and R2avarious groups.
