Use of a peptide of formula (I) (given below) as an antioxidant and/or anti-free radical agent, optionally in combination with another active agent, for preparation of a cosmetic and/or a dermatological composition, is new. Use of a peptide of formula (I) as an anti-oxidant and/or an anti-free radical agent, optionally in combination with another active agent, for the preparation of a cosmetic and/or dermatological composition, is new. An independent claim is also included for a dermatological composition (II) comprising a cosmetically or pharmaceutically acceptable medium and a peptide of formula (I). ((Xaa)n-Cys-Gly-(Xaa)n, (I), where Xaa represents any amino acid or amino acid derivative, and n is 0-2. ACTIVITY : Dermatological. The ability of (II) to prevent the cellular damage by ultraviolet radiation was tested using biological assays. The results showed that (II) increased the viability of the cells to 14.5% compared to the untreated cells. MECHANISM OF ACTION : Antioxidant; Free radical scavenger.
