The brush has a body (21) with contact sides (22, 23) which are conformed such that only one side (22) is supported on a contact ring before the initial usage of the brush, where the ring is mounted on a rotor of an electrical machine. The contact sides have striae (24) oriented in a predetermined direction with respect to direction of movement of the brush on the ring, or bumps forming contact points. An independent claim is also included for an electrical machine comprising a brush.
