Cosmetic or dermatological composition comprising urea (3-15%), an inorganic salt and a lactate buffer in a vehicle or diluent, where the urea:salt weight ratio is 1:0.2-0.6, is new. An independent claim is also included for cosmetic treatment comprising applying the composition to a zone of the skin, mucosa and/or visible organs for care and/or cosmetic treatment and/or prevention of dehydration and/or water loss in humans and/or animals.
