Time hopping code for ultra-wideband signals

An ultra-wideband (UWB) signal comprises a series of pulses transmitted over a corresponding series of transmitter time frames. The relative position of the pulse in each time frame is one of Nc time slots or chips relative to the start of the time frame and is governed by a time hopping (TH) code of the UWB signal. The TH code ensures that all Nc time slots are stimulated one or more times. The TH code may further ensure that the numerical difference modulo Nc between consecutive TH code values is always unique for the entirety of the TH code except the numerical difference between the last and first TH code values. Preferably, the maximum distance between any numerically identical TH code values within the TH code structure is equal to Nc time frame durations.
