MAGNETIC PROPERTY TEST METHOD OF MAGNETORESISTIVE EFFECT HEAD, AND MAGNETORESISTIVE EFFECT HEAD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein recent GMR components should be improved in their reliability against mechanical impacts since their characteristics are often degraded by hitting of the disk to decrease the output or to reverse the output polarity.;SOLUTION: The phenomenon of the output decreasing and output polarity reversing of the GMR head 10 is considered due to the degradation in the magnetized direction of the fixed layer 21. A GMR head 10 having a magnetic characteristics of a transfer curve with no hysteresis is obtained by applying an alternating magnetic field of 1 kOe (80 kA/m) or larger to the GMR sensor 11 during or after manufacturing and by checking the transfer curve. This GMR head 10 does not change the characteristics of the GMR sensor 11 even if a mechanical stress is applied.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
