PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly corrosion resistant aluminum-manganese alloy in which the effect of improving corrosion resistance by the addition of manganese can be effectively realized, to provide a highly corrosion resistant metallic material, and to provide methods for producing them.;SOLUTION: An aluminum-manganese alloy having a composition comprising, by weight, 0.3 to 3.0% manganese, and the balance aluminum with inevitable impurities is heat-treated at ≥400°C. Since the precipitation of Al6Mn effective for improving its corrosion resistance is reduced, the effect of improving the corrosion resistance can be actually effectively realized. Further, by the addition of manganese, its mechanical strength improves. Thus, the highly corrosion resistant aluminum-manganese alloy jointly having satisfactory mechanical strength and corrosion resistance can be obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
