PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save the energy of the entire system of an absorption type water cooler/heater by controlling the temperature of cooling water. PSOLUTION: The absorption type water cooler/heater includes at least a regenerator configured to heat an absorbing solution, a condenser 16, an absorber 18, an evaporator 20, a group of heat exchangers, a solution pump, a refrigerant pump, a cooling water pump 22, a cold/hot water pump 24, a cooling tower 26, and a cooling tower fan motor 28. The absorption type water cooler/heater executes control to change the set value of the temperature of cooling water during operation at rated load, upon detecting the temperature of cooling water that circulates in the water cooler/heater and that varies under the influence of outside air temperature or external load, and the temperature of cooling water that circulates in the water cooler/heater while being cooled by outside air.
