PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of imparting near infrared ray reflection performance for obtaining the large effect for reducing COSB2/SB, by largely reducing electric power required for cooling; and a rapid-transit railway vehicle. PSOLUTION: This method imparts the near infrared ray reflection performance to a surface of the rapid-transit railway vehicle. In the method, a coating film having the near infrared ray reflection performance is formed on the surface, and the coating film imparts the near infrared ray reflection performance for increasing solar radiation reflectivity by 9% or more in a wave length area of 780 to 2100 nm without changing a color tone.
