PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glide head that reduces imbalance in flying level between left and right rails or pads, and has high detection accuracy of a projection defect.;SOLUTION: A glide head 1 has a slider 2, a wing 3 overhanging in an air flow-out direction from an air flow-out end of the slider 2, and a piezoelectric element 4 mounted on the wing 3 with being fixed by adhesion. Thickness of the wing 3 is smaller than thickness of the slider 2, which is in a level where it has no influence on floating of the slider 2. A floating surface 5 of the slider 2 has flow-in end rails 7 for generating positive pressure, which has tapered portions 6, at both ends at a side of the air flow-in end; flow-out end rails 8 for generating positive pressure at both ends at a side of the air flow-out end; a crosscut region 9 between the flow-in end rails 7 and the flow-out end rails 8; and grooves 10 between the left and right flow-in end rails 7 and between the left and right flow-out end rails 8.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
