PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element which satisfies desired optical performance by deciding the position of an optical surface within a mold from the function of a diffractive optical surface so that a DOE (Diffractive Optical Element) on a non-rotation symmetry plane has not an undercut and so that the dimension of a mold does not become large beyond necessity.;SOLUTION: The optical element is manufactured by the mold which is characterized by deciding the position of the diffractive optical surface within the mold by the phase function of a diffraction grating and the function of a non-rotation symmetry plane so that the diffraction grating arranged on non-rotation symmetry plane can be demolded without causing deformation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
