PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively producing a lithium transition metal complex oxide having an excellent resistance characteristic when used as a positive electrode active material of a lithium secondary battery. PSOLUTION: The anhydride of lithium hydroxide for manufacturing a lithium transition metal complex oxide is specified to have the maximum particle diameter of 40 m when its particle size distribution is measured by a laser diffraction method using a real part of 1.14 and an imaginary part of 0.00 as a refractive index, where the specimen for measurement is prepared by supplying the anhydride of lithium hydroxide into an ethyl alcohol solution saturated with lithium hydroxide to have a light transmittance of 805% when measured by the laser diffraction and dispersing for 1 minute by an ultrasonic oscillator at an output of 30 W and a frequency of 22.5 kHz.
