PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode plate for a control valve type lead-acid battery in which elution of additives or the like is prevented by suppressing dissipation of carbon dioxide, and provide the control valve type lead-acid battery using the negative electrode plate superior in long term stability. PSOLUTION: As for the negative electrode plate, since the carbon dioxide product amount occupied in the active material of the negative electrode plate after aging/drying is 5.0 mass% or less and a ratio (a/b) of the carbon dioxide product amount a to the thickness b of the negative electrode plate before aging/drying is specified to be less than 2.0, embrittlement of the negative electrode active material is prevented and dissipation of carbon dioxide in the initial stage of charging is remarkably suppressed, while elution of the additives and invasion of carbon into a separator can be prevented.
