PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detection of early liver diseases in dogs that are companion animals.;SOLUTION: The method for detecting early renal disease includes a step (a) of obtaining a sample from an animal to be tested; and a step (b) of determining the amount of albumin in the sample. When the specific gravity of the sample is normalized with respect to the amount of 1.010 g/ml, the amount of albumin in the range of from 10 μg/ml to 300 μg/ml indicates early liver disease.
