PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and rapidly remove the developer carried on a development roll.;SOLUTION: In the development roll cleaning device 10, the toner T carried on the peripheral surface of the development roll 103 is sucked and removed by inserting the development roll 103 into a cylindrical section 12. Thereby, the toner T is easily and rapidly removed clean. The toner T is not scattered around unlike the case where air blow is used, and workability and working environment are good. In addition, the toner T is removed most effectively when the development roll 103 passes through an aperture 18 of the cylindrical section 12. Consequently, when the development roll 103 is put into and out of the cylindrical section 12, the development roll 103 frequently passes through the aperture 18, and the toner is more effectively removed.
