PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently screen a histone methyltransferase activity regulator by using a high enzyme expression mutation polypeptide in an experiment system using an SMYD family protein.;SOLUTION: The method for screening a histone methyltransferase regulator comprises incubating a mutation polypeptide which comprises an amino acid sequence in which one or more amino acids are deleted continuously from Met at the 1-position of amino acids at the N-terminal side from an SET domain and one or several amino acids of amino acids except the SET domain may be deleted, added, inserted or substituted in an amino acid sequence encoding a protein belonging to an SMYD family and has three times histone methyltransferase activity as that of a wild type protein or above, a substrate for histone methyltransferase activity and a methyl group donor in the presence of a substance to be examined and assaying histone methyltransferase activity.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
