METHOD OF LOWERING GROUNDWATER LEVEL AROUND BUILDING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of minimizing a risk of immersion of groundwater into an underground space by lowering a groundwater level around a building by using a very simple structure.;SOLUTION: According to the method, a synthetic resin foam body 8 containing intercommunicating porosities is set on an external surface of an external wall 6 enclosing the underground space 5 of the building 1, and drain channels 9 are formed in a lower portion of the underground space 5, whereby groundwater present around the underground space 5 is introduced via the porosities in the synthetic resin foam body 8 to the drain channels 9. It is preferred that the synthetic resin foam body (8) is produced by heating and connecting closed-cell foam body particles of polystyrene foam having a volume of 2 to 6 cm³, in a mold, that the intercommunicating porosities are formed between the particles, and that its voidage is set to 8 to 35%.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
