PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract a feature amount of an image conforming to the human sense of similarity without requiring manpower by automating jobs in extracting the feature amount from the image.;SOLUTION: According to the image feature amount extraction method, on the basis of color of each pixel which constitutes an image, it is specified which region in color space divided into a plurality of regions in advance each pixel belongs to, on the basis of the number of pixels belonging to each region, a histogram of the color of the image is generated, and the generated histogram of the color is extracted as a feature of the image showing the feature of the image. In the method, with respect to the number of pixels belonging to the respective regions, the number of pixels belonging to other regions is accumulated respectively in accordance with the similarity of colors among the regions and, on the basis of the number of pixels belonging to the respective regions after accumulation, the histogram of the color is generated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
