PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake element capable of satisfying consumers'expects, and simultaneously satisfying domestic laws and/or international laws relating to reduction of copper level in an environment.;SOLUTION: This brake element has the frictional material including one of iron fiber, aluminum, zinc, tin and their combination. The amount of iron fiber in the frictional material is within a range of about 1-10 vol. %. The amount of one of aluminum, zinc, tin and their combination is within a range of about 1-5 vol. %. A copper element is not included in the frictional material. Thus the copper element is not diffused to the environment even when the frictional material is worn.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
