PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material which can be simply applied to a base material, can be applied to a wide variety of base materials and at the same time, can form an antifouling film having excellent antifouling properties.;SOLUTION: The material is titanium-containing silica sol characterized by comprising (a) fine particles which are fine particles (a1) or (a2) where (a1) is titania fine particles having an average particle diameter of 2 to 50 nm and non-porous silica fine particles having an average particle diameter of 5 to 100 nm and a specific surface area of ≥30 m2/g and 550 m2/g as determined by the BET method or (a2) is non-porous silica fine particles comprising non-porous silica fine particles having an average particle diameter of 5 to 100 nm and a specific surface area of ≥30 m2/g and 550 m2/g as determined by the BET method and the surface of the non-porous silica fine particles having been modified with a titanate compound and (b) a dispersion medium. In the titanium-containing silica sol, the content of Si and Ti which constitute the (a1) or the (a2) is in a range of 5-21,000 expressed in terms of SiO2/TiO2 weight ratio.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
