PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique enabling protection of trees, crops, etc., from insect pests, harmful birds and animals, etc., for a long period without adverse effects on people and livestock eating the trees and/or crops and high costs. PSOLUTION: This animal repellent composition 10 consists of a core substance 11 blended with one or more plant essential oil extracts of animal-repellent herbs and sealed in a microcapsule 12 having a water-soluble or sustained-release film.
