PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for cutting an outside bead of a spiral steel pipe, which method and apparatus can efficiently, stably, and smoothly cut the outside bead by a small cutting force without damaging the body of the steel pipe, and further to provide a method for manufacturing the spiral steel pipe.;SOLUTION: The outside bead is cut in the direction of the thickness by bringing a longitudinally turning cutting edge 12 into pressure contact with the outside bead existing on the outside surface of the spiral steel pipe 13, the outside bead having been formed by welding the joint portions of the spiral steel pipe, In addition, a cutting apparatus comprises an upright portal frame 21 which grips the spiral steel pipe 13 such that the outside bead formed by welding the joint portions of the spiral steel pipe comes to the uppermost outside surface of the spiral steel pipe, a supporting member 16 which is mounted on the cross beam of the portal frame, and can move in the direction of manufacturing the spiral steel pipe, the longitudinally turning cutting edge 12 which is supported by a supporting member so as to vertically move, and cuts the outside bead of the spiral steel pipe in the direction of the thickness, and copying rolls 17 for determining the height of the longitudinally turning cutting edge.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
