PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multispectral image processing method extracting a component of a target characteristic on the basis of a multispectral image obtained by shooting an object having a characteristic in a wavelength direction even when there is dispersion in underlying color, and providing processing such as sorting of the object or extraction of an area. PSOLUTION: A step is provided for shooting the multispectral image having N channels in the wavelength direction of the object, a step is provided for projecting the obtained multispectral image in a subspace with an M dimension basis function to obtain an M dimension subspace component image of the object, a step is provided for obtaining a difference multispectral image of the object by calculating a difference between the obtained multispectral image and the M dimension subspace component image of the object, a step is provided for extracting a difference particular wavelength image of one or a plurality of channels corresponding to a specified wavelength from the difference multispectral image of the object, and a step is provided for determining a class of each point in the image by using a picture element value of the extracted difference particular wavelength image.
