PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve usability by automatically deciding the start and end of voice reading by deciding the character recognition result of object of recitation in real time, and then reducing the trouble of the user having to operate equipment.;SOLUTION: A voice reading machine, equipped with an image acquiring means of reading characters on a medium as image data, a character recognition processing means of recognizing the characters from the image data and converting them into document data, a voice compositing processing means of converting the document data into voice data, and a voice output means of outputting the voice data as a voice, decides that the medium has been loaded in the image acquiring means, when it is decided that the character recognition processing is capable of character recognition to output a voice, and announces that a page should be turned over a proper time before the end time of the speech output, when it decides that page has not been flipped during the voice output execution, by comparing document data character-recognized by the character recognition processing means with the voice data during the execution of the voice output.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
