PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily prepare ultrathin sheet-like specimens in a completely independent state of each other while preventing to the utmost wrinkles or roundness from forming from a specimen block.;SOLUTION: This sheet-like specimen preparing method comprises: a sticking step for sticking a tape 5 on an upper surface 3a of the columnar specimen block 3 so that an opening 5a surrounds an end face of a specimen 1, the tape 5 having the opening 5a formed so as to surround at least the end face of the specimen 1 exposed to the upper surface 3a of the specimen block 3 with an adhesive compound spread on a surface thereof; a cut-off step, after the sticking step, for cutting off the specimen block 3 at a position apart by a prescribed distance from the upper surface 3a by a plane parallel to the upper surface 3a to prepare a tape 5' with a specimen made by sticking the specimen block 3' to a surface of the tape 5, the specimen block 3' comprising a sheet-like specimen 1' and an embedding agent 2'; and a separation step, after the cut-off step, for stamping the sheet-like specimen 1' through the opening 5a to separate the specimen 1' from a tape 5' with specimen.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
