PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate a plurality of cartridge libraries as one library system.;SOLUTION: Storage systems for use with data storage devices (including cartridges) may include a track 701 connecting a plurality of storage libraries and a transporter 100 for transferring a cartridge within and between the storage libraries. The track 701 may comprise a cam pathway 710, and the transporter 100 may comprise a shuttle for holding a cartridge and a cam follower for following the cam pathway. Thus, as the transporter 100 is moved along the track 701, the position of the transporter 100's shuttle may correspond to the position of the cam followers as it follows the cam pathway and the storage device is transported from a first storage library to a second storage library.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
