PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for combining high molecular sensitivity of functional imaging modality with spatial resolution of anatomical imaging modality.;SOLUTION: The subject modality-combination type imaging system (10) comprises a first imaging device of a first modality (12) and a second imaging device of a second modality (14). The first and second imaging devices are constituted so as to interact with a contrast agent (18) together. The contrast agent (18) comprises deformable particles having a geometric constitution changing with response to release from the first imaging device, a fluorescent component (70) constituted so as to release an electromagnetic beam (28) detectable by the second imaging device and a quenching component (72) separated from the fluorescent component (70) at a distance based on the above geometric constitution and constituted so as to absorb a part of the electromagnetic beam (28) from the fluorescent component (70).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
