PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polynucleotide region by which the expression of NOX1 producing active oxygen causing proliferation and hypertrophy of a cell of vascular smooth muscle can be controlled vascular smooth muscle-specifically.;SOLUTION: The medicinal composition comprising a polynucleotide or a complementary strand thereof can tissue-specifically control the activities of an NADPH oxidase constituted of the NOX1 by acting on the untranslation region of a transcription product of an NOX1 genome DNA or a promoter thereof to control the translation efficiency or the transcription activities of the NOX1, and is useful for prophylaxis and therapy of circulatory system disease such as hypertension, arteriosclerosis and diabetes associated with life-style-related disease.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
