PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solution to an open network which can maintain a performance level required for the distribution of high-quality and high-resolution A/V programming contents, and is composed mainly of the Ethernet protocol.;SOLUTION: An audio/video content distribution system such as a set-top box is interfaced to an LAN. The system has a packet processing circuit which performs filter processing with respect to Ethernet packet data received at a specified port or in a queue from the LAN for specifying a channel. For interpreting various network transport protocols of the Internet IETF, the packet processing circuit utilizes a set of the filter processing and a channel specifying mechanism which are performed by hardware to transfer packet data in a format identified by various consumer subsystems each linked to a decoder.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
