PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a discharge electrode cleaning device that has the ability to remove, with great efficiency, dust and the like stuck to the tip of a welding rod without bending or damaging it, with a simple operation.;SOLUTION: A holding container 24 filled with a brush body 25 is clamped with a chuck 23, with this chuck 23 inserted into and engaged with a rotary shaft 22. Meantime, the tip end of the discharge welding rod 10 of an optical fiber fusion splicer is put in the brush body 25, and then a motor incorporated in a housing 21 is driven to rotate the rotary shaft 22 as well as the chuck 23 engaged with it and thereby rotating the holding container 24. Since the holding container 24 is rotated with the tip end of the discharge welding rod 10 inserted in the brush body 25, the whole tip end is thoroughly rubbed with the brush body 25, so that foreign matters stuck to the tip end can be completely removed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
