The electrical switchgear (1) has a housing (2) with connection units for an electrical connection with bus bars or power lines. An electrical switching contact is provided, where an arc (5) is formed in an arc-chamber (6) by separation of the electrical switching contact. An arc discharge unit (7) is provided to discharge the arc. A magnet body (8) is provided which is made of a magnetizable soft iron material. The magnet body is magnetized by a magnetization device (10). An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an electrical switchgear.
