PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bidirectional ring network capable of adding a node device while continuing an operation and improved in expansibility and maintainability.;SOLUTION: The bidirectional ring network has cut point display flags 104(0)-104(4) to be set when the node device becomes the cut point of a dependent relationship in any direction and it is decided from the flag whether or not a node device 101(5), for example, can be additionally extended. Thus, routing to the additional node device 101(5) is made possible only by adding routing setting information without changing routing setting information under operating that an existing node device on the bidirectional ring network has. A routing table 103(5) of the added node device 101(5) is set based upon a copy of a routing table 103(1) of an adjacent node device 101(1).
