PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve printing uniformity using low memory or computation requirements while suppressing influences of printer noise and measuring noise to a minimum. PSOLUTION: The set of response curves (RC) on the space of desired uniformity is measured, the subset of base vectors is selected from the RC, and the uniformity correction RC is applied to a digital image. The uniformity correction RC is based on the subset of base vectors of the RC. Further, the correction RC is repeatedly updated into digital image on the basis of the measured value of the uniformity correction RC, thereby implementing the uniformity correction response curve RC in a digital printer.
