PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speech transcription communication system and a speech transcription communication method that allow easily selecting and setting whether speech information or character information resulting from transcription of this speech information (conversion to character information) is to be used, in such a way as to allow making these settings in advance, while also enabling personal computers or the like to receive as email the character information resulting from speech transcription.;SOLUTION: Based on request information from a receiver's cellphone 3, a communication host device 5 makes either a first setting for sending information to the receiver's cellphone or the like after converting this information to character information or a second setting for directly sending the speech information from a sender's cellphone 2, thereby enabling the receiver to freely select settings for either receiving speech information or transcribing it and to make settings in advance for more freedom in the use of communication lines.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
