PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide paper containing a paper strengthening agent exhibiting remarkable effect for improving the paper strength and the rigidity in a wide pH range.;SOLUTION: The paper strengthening agent composed of an amphoteric polyacrylamide has a non-neutralized anion quantity of 1,000-1,500 μ equivalent/g at pH 4.5, a non-neutralized anionic group ratio of ≥70% based on the total anionic groups and a cationic group ratio of 20-40% based on the total anionic groups. The paper strengthening agent is mixed with a pulp slurry and formed in the form of paper or the agent is coated with a size press to remarkably improve the paper strength and rigidity without increasing the density and decreasing the whiteness of the paper.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
