PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that a conventional mesh type filter is not suitable for being used for such a separating filter of chips due to high probability of the occurrence of clogging, and that clogging of the mesh type filter is hard to be prevented by a conventional back wash method using liquid such as a coolant and air.;SOLUTION: The filter is composed of a casing used for a back wash device and equipped with a coolant inlet for the coolant and an outlet for foreign matter, casing cylinders provided on the casing at intervals, outlets for a cleaning coolant provided on the casing so as to open to the outside of the casing, a large number of holes provided on the casing cylinders, and projecting pieces provided inside near the holes. Therefore, the occurrence of clogging of the filter is decreased, the durability of the filter is improved, the frequency of back wash is reduced, and separation filtering efficiency is expanded.
