PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the dropping-out of hydrogen storage alloy powder from a hydrogen storage alloy electrode to enhance reactivity between the hydrogen storage alloy electrode and an electrolytic solution and to improve the high rate discharging characteristics and charging/discharging cycle characteristics in an alkaline battery. SOLUTION: In a hydrogen alloy electrode 2 in which an electrode material containing a binding agent and hydrogen alloy powder is stuck to a collector, hydrogen alloy powder in which the surface is coated with a film containing at least one metal selected from nickel and cobalt and a hydrophilic polymer and a collector in which the surface is coated with a film containing at least one metal selected from nickel and cobalt and a hydrophilic high polymer are used.
